  1. Initially, I think this poem is about doing something, but not just any thing out of the ordinary. It is about doing something important to you. It is about doing something to what it's worth. It's about doing something worthy. It's about doing something to remember. Sometimes, I need to remind myself to do something that makes me happy. I work two jobs and go to school and without realizing it, I take a downfall every once in a while. I am glad that I have down-to-earth classmates and instructors to help keep me on my toes.

    2. You know us. We straight up down.

    3. Doing something we enjoy or relaxing is essential to people. Without being able to relax at least sometimes, we would be stressed-out messes. Furthermore, relaxing even helps people become more productive, so relaxing is incredibly beneficial.

  2. Often enough we get caught up in life's so called "rat race" and things like "quantity" begin to outweigh "quality." Much is the same for our perception and values in life. When material wealth and success take the forefront of our daily lives, we gradually become hollow, surface people. We give less, want more, yet settle for even lesser than what we give. We love from the outside, daring not to venture inward, least we hurt, yet expect to be loved for who we are inside. An ironic complication in life, some might say. Man’s cursed struggle for realization and self-worth.

    I think not!

But let us not waste time on what we already know yet refuse to acknowledge as true. We offer excuses, pass them off as small talk and even point fingers in every direction, in hopes that we’d find some formidable concept that will satisfy our conscience, if only for a while, and allow us to continue living a lie.

The lie that “quantity” will somehow ensure and safeguard our happiness, if not our existence entirely. And that to sacrifice “quality” to ensure the maximization of “quantity” in by no means a degrading aspect of what our society has become today.

For me, the poem is quite simple. It is one’s desire (if not mankind’s suppressed longing) for a deeper sense of existence and purpose. The ability to love a little deeper, a little longer, and to be loved back just the same. To hold on and be held, to protect and be protected, to keep and be kept, to hear and be heard, and the list goes on.

In the end, its man’s simply cry to be someone worth knowing.

Food for thought: "Love deeply and give willingly. Forgive quickly and live freely. Above all else, never be greedy"

    2. Thank you Sung. I am happy to know that you found the blog intriguing. I just thought I'd venture outside the perceived norm and see how else could one interpret the poem. A little unorthodox, but hey, life is too grand to be running along the fence-line all the time. Again, thank you and rock steady bruh!

    5. I always like reading your posts, because they are always insightful and pleasant to read. Additionally, I agree that people will always want to find a deeper meaning in life. Meanwhile, some people mistake material goods for purpose, when purpose should be something deeper.

  3. Often in life, we tend to settle for less. I believe that if you're going to do something, always make sure it's worth your time and energy. Never do something that's going to make you unhappy because life itself is definitely worth living for and should not be taken for granted.

    2. I agree, sometimes we try to find the easy way out of things. When we do something we should put our 100% effort into it and we shouldn't do it the easy way.

  4. The poet wanted to live a worthy life, but he did not. I am assuming that this person felt as if he did not live a worthy life and wrote this to tell people to do so. I will keep in mind what he wrote, and I will try not to forget.

    4. Your view of this poem is very thought-provoking. I did not even think about the author of this poem. However, now that I think about the poem, your interpretation made me view not only the author's message, but also his or her purpose for writing the poem.

    5. I guess we didn't really think of what caused the poet to write it besides his intention of giving advice.

  7. In my opinion the poem is saying "Carpe diem" or to seize the day. The poem is saying to live everyday like its your last and to do something worth doing. When we do something we must put all our effort into it. We must live every moment like it's your last and to do everything in the best of our abilities. We all must do something with our lives and do things that make us a better person.

  9. "The purpose of life, Is a life with a purpose, So I would rather die for a cause than live a life that is worthless." Immortal Technique

I believe this poem means to do everything with a cause, a meaning, a belief, etc.
For if you were to do something without meaning, it is worthless.
You tend to be able to feel when something is without meaning, but when you feel that something is with meaning. You can feel a great euphoric vibe around such expressions. When you put meaning into your everyday activities such as the poem describes it makes everything more memorable, purposeful, and just puts this uplifting aura around your life.

    5. That is a very nice quote. I feel like that quote sums up the poem's message to live a purposeful life very well. Also, I agree that doing something meaningful makes a person's life better, because that person would have a purpose in life.

  10. To me, the poem is saying to live your life. The poem is saying that we have one life so do everything to the fullest. Live a life worth remembering. A friend of mine always watches the history chancel, he always says that he wishes he could be remembered after death for the amazing things he did in his life like the people they talk about on the history chancel. The poem is saying not to hold back. hopefully what I said just made any sense.

  11. A person should create something meaningful and become someone meaningful. Not only will this give purpose to a person's life, it might give significance to other people's lives as well. What a person does in life reflects on the people around him or her. For example, a writer can compose a novel that changes another person's life. Case in point, reading the novel "The Alchemist" by Paulo Coehlo helped me discover my purpose in life.

  12. To do something that worth, does not matter you write a essay, read a book, or say something; all it matter is you feel it is worth to you. Wringing, reading, and speaking is like a triangle that cannot be perfect without each other. Because of that read a worthy book to be a better writer is one of the important things.

  17. Reading this poem reminds me what I learned in my World History class yesterday about how history never started till people had a written language and could read it too. This proves that being able to read and write is important because it carries our history. We need our history to live and survive because we learn for our past so history doesn't repeat itself. One thing worth writing is your story your history. You write this to share with others. To teach others your views, your mistakes, and what you have learned over the course of your life. No one lives forever but one thing we can do in our life is write something that can help future generations become better than the generation we live in now.

  19. If you're going to do something, it should be something that's going to be worth it in the end. It has got to be something worth remembering, whether you remember it or someone else does. Either way, how it affects your life does not matter at the moment. There's reason behind your actions. Your intentions, good or bad, will be quenched because whatever you actions may be, the outcome is supposedly important or worth it.
