This quote seems to be like a formula for literacy. Today in class we went over process analysis. I am eager to finish writing my informative essay. I like this kind of essay because I like teaching people. This essay should go smoothly.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I am not a big fan of formula's, I like how you integrated and compared it's use to the quote. It enabled a more perceptive angle to the quote, or at least it did for me.
DeleteH Pav,
DeleteI am glad you are enjoying how your informative essay is coming along. I also like to teach others.
A formula is the perfect explanation of the quote! It helped me grasp the meaning of the quote better! Thank you Heather.
DeleteI like how everyone has there own interpretation of the quote but it all comes back to the same thing.
DeleteA formula... that's a different way of looking at it but it's relevant and it makes sense!
DeleteWhen you improve your reading your ability to think and write improves and when you improve your writing your ability to think and read improves. Each go hand and hand and when you work on one you improve the other two as well.
ReplyDeleteIn today's activities we learned process analysis. Process analysis is when you break down your topic into stages on how your topic is done.
Indeed, "when you work on one you improve the other." Its a cycle that must be maintained in order for any of the three to achieve maximum potential or produce the most effective results. Well said!
DeleteAreed with Alex's comment which agrees with Jonah's comment.
DeleteRegarding reading, writing, and thinking, one cannot go without the other. When you work on one of the three, you improve another. The quote focuses on the process of the mind and advancement of reading and writing. Improving and exercising these abilities allow you to become more effective when you read, write, and think,
ReplyDeleteDuring today's class, we discussed what a process analysis is, when to use, the types of process and analysis, stages, forms and were given exercises to familiarize ourselves with this mode of writing. We also went over a writing process worksheet.
I completely agree, improving one will improve the other two. Exercising and improving reading, writing, and thinking will make you a better reader and writer. The writing process worksheet we reviewed today will also help me with our Test 3 coming up.
DeleteBeautifully written Casiana. I like your emphasis on how "the quote focuses on the process of the mind and the advancement of reading and writing."
DeleteJust like learning a new instrument or song, you learn without listening to the music or vice versa. Reading helps you understand how different people write, and it can help you use various writing forms in your own compositions. Vice versa, writing also helps you read better by improving your competence of the English language. Reading and writing both help you think critically and effectively, because they both help you enhance your literacy.
ReplyDeleteI like your analogy, and how you related music to reading and writing. I agree that reading helps the writer use a large variety of forms. I think this is because the writer can follow other writers' examples and follow them correctly.
DeleteI really liked that analogy as well! Well written and perfect to way to explain it to someone who might love music.
DeleteThe quote means that reading and writing go hand-in-hand. Neither reading nor writing can improve without each other. Additionally, writing develops and reading expands the mind. In today's class, we learned how to write a list of procedures in order. If a writer does not write steps in order, then the list or other work of writing will be a jumbled mess.
ReplyDeleteReading, writing and, thinking are the three pee's in one pod and a writer could not write an essay without one or the other.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree, a writer could not write without one or the other. A writer or reader needs to know how to read, write, or think logically in order.
DeleteThis is definitely true, Josh. A writer or reader must know how to read, write and think logically in order to format a proper essay.
DeleteA writer definitely cannot write without reading, thinking, or writing. For example, when writers compose, they must first think about their topic to brainstorm, then write about their topic, and read their work to see if it is to their liking. In addition, a writer cannot read or think without reading, thinking, or writing.
DeleteNothing goes together with out one.
DeleteBasically, this quote may mean that you can not do anything without the other. You have to learn one thing at a time that may progress your skills in the future. Also, reading and writing are the basic skills your brain needs to think and progress. You are better off reading and writing than you are when you snap pictures or record a speech or notes. You are likely to learn more and proficiently manual than technology wise.
ReplyDeleteI disagree when you said "learn more and proficiently manual than technology wise". If you look at technology today, it's more accurate and efficient than humans.
Deletei understand what you are trying to say but everyone learns differently and pictures along with reading and writing help the visual learner.
DeleteThis quote explains if we learn about reading, writing, and thinking together, it will be better than learning just one. That means it will occur synergy effect when we work with everything together.
ReplyDeleteToday's activities, we learned process and analysis. This type of essay can show how to do something well, and very informative.
This poem reminds me of Ying and Yang, A balance is needed between the two to form a strong foundation. Foundation is key to everything because it is the basic steps from where you can eventually branch out from and shape a strong writing style.
ReplyDeleteToday's activity we talked about writing process analysis which demonstrates a certain process or stages for a subject.
Sung,
DeleteIt is true that there must be a balance to things. Also, to every process lies a foundation that holds that balance in place.
I agree, balance is the key to strong foundation.
DeleteI like your analogy with the ying and yang. I believe many things in life are this way.
DeleteI agree that reading, writing, and thinking should all have balance. Writers should balance all three to write good and effective works of writing. If one overpowers the other, then the writer should seek to achieve balance once again.
DeleteIt's basically the fundamentals of education. Without reading and writing, there wouldn't be advancement in the all the education fields.
ReplyDeleteyea, I think these are basic of education, and it all connected each other.
DeleteThat is true. They are fundamentals of education. After all that is the first thing you learn.
DeleteWell for me it means that the more you work at one thing the better you get at the other . they work hand in hand . This works with everything you doing in the life. The more you eat, the better you cook and the more you cook the better you eat. you cant do one without the other, unless you buy your food then you do not need to cook. But the more you read the better your writing is. sorry I do not know what I'm talking about
ReplyDeleteJess,
DeleteI like how you mentioned the more you work with one thing, the better you get at the other. Your statement is apparently true and that is in anything that you do.
That is true. It is basically what you do in life. Practice makes perfect and everything goes hand in hand with another.
DeleteI understand where you are coming from. If a person wants to improve at an activity, then that person should also do other things related to that activity. Like in your analogy, a chef can tell if his dish is good by tasting it, and if the dish does not taste good, then he discovers what is wrong with the dish, and fixes it. Meanwhile, if he does not taste the dish, then he would not know what was wrong with it.
DeleteRight, this doesn't only apply to reading and writing, but life itself.
DeleteThe sentence that you wrote "The more you read the better your writing is".
DeleteIt reminds me one quote "You can see as much as you know"
Don't worry Jessica. your statement is well done.
Like how love, faith and hope are strengthened by each other's coexistence; such is the same for reading, writing and thinking. By itself, they loose meaning, with each other, they are exemplified.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree, you gave a good example and its exactly what I think about the quote. Reading, writing, and thinking are strengthened by each other's coexistence.
DeleteThanks Jonah..
DeleteA little bland if not too general a comparison. And I am afraid that I'd do worse in sharing my thoughts regarding class today. The past few days have been rather trying times for me, and it has taken a mental and physical toil on me. My thoughts are left scattered and incoherent. My only conclusive thought about class is that I am happy I made it. I apologize for being a bit "out of it."
Wow, those are some strong words. All in all, great job comparing them.
Deletethis quote brought out some powerful thoughts. I love to read others interpretation.
DeleteThis perfectly describes the foundations of a strong comprehension of English.
DeleteThe things you write, say, and think are so deep and poetic. That's refreshing to hear and read.
Deleteyour example makes me understand this poem well.
DeleteWow. I love your way of comparing how love, faith and hope is like reading and writing.
DeleteYou Learn to Write-We learn something in order to write our feeling down
ReplyDeleteBetter by reading- Read other people's writing you will become a better writer
You Learn to read- learn better to read
better by writing- and read better to write better.
Reading, writing, and thinking are all connected. It is all about how we feel.
Today's activity was fun, I learned how to change car oil.
On the topic of changing the oil from a car, I was amazed how completely wrong I was in some of the steps. Props to Lauren and Larri for getting most of the steps correct. I should really learn how to change the oil from a car. It would come in handy one of these days..
DeleteI agree with Alex. The exercise was so fun! Although I would have failed if this was graded, it was so hilarious seeing how wrong I was.
DeleteI agree with Alex too. I was wrong with my steps of changing car oil. It was good that I learned how to change it though.
DeleteI love the way you interpreted this poem. How you dissected each line to a meaning.
DeleteYou can't write without being able to read what you just wrote. You can't read without anything written. Reading and writing coincide with each other. They rely and depend on each other to exist. Being able to write is great but there is no point in writing if you are unable to read the writing. Read is something that we learn but if writing didn't exist then there is no need for reading.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree, each go hand and hand and you can't do one without the other. When you improve one you improve the other two as well. You can't do one without doing the other.
DeleteLauren! This is perfect! I love your interpretation of the quote! Well said Lauren!
DeleteI like the way you wrote this. It is almost like a poem.
DeleteThe part where you said "they rely and depend on each other to exist" is on point and completely accurate.
DeleteIf I were being blunt, I'd say that the quote is self-explanatory. Reading and writing, like most things in this universe, tie in together to create something bigger than both of them as individuals. Doing one thing helps with the other.
ReplyDeleteI only remember talking about preparation and the actual steps in doing something. I only slept for 3 hours today so I wasn't all that aware of what was happening.
Seems like you and I are in the same boat when it comes to sleeping patterns... Hope you get your much needed rest soon enough.
DeleteYou are right this poem is self-explanatory. Like many things is our English class is universal too.
